Parables and the Prophets

When painting or writing, I become calm and begin to hear and see more clearly what is going on within and around me. I find this a beautiful mystery, a gift of sorts that anyone can embrace. A few weeks ago as I began to add words to a painting (She Who Dwells..) my daughter sent some snapshots of the Northern Lights over Quebec (see Gallery).

It was Friday , May 11th 2024. I was stuck for words when I looked. The colours; a smooth blend of violets, reds and magenta were what i'd used in my painting earlier that week.  It was the following week when reading Revelation chapters 18 I read about the angel and his splendor lighting up the skies. I encourage you to read this as God's paintings are all over the world's skies and the patterns, especially since September 2017 (Revelation 12 sign), hold great significance for the days ahead. He tells us so in Genesis 1:14 and in Revelation.

The thread of all this is how i've come to  realise i'm using a new voice, or perhaps my true voice now.  Being able to express and communicate to others what God lays on my heart is necessary for me,  but i’m always aware of the flood of words around us already. Perhaps this website is too much of a noise or distraction for you right now. Yeshua, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Lord and Saviour of mankind, when He spoke, He used parables:

"And the disciples came, and said unto Him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing, see not: and hearing, they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith : By hearing ye shall hear , and shall not understand: and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross  and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at anytime they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them: and to hear those things which ye hear , and have not heard them. Hear ye the parable of the sower..." (Matthew 13:10-18)

When I see and hear with spiritual eyes and ears only then am I able to understand God's word and that also is His gift to us. To be drawn aside from distractions and led to sit and read His word doesn't come from the natural. And God's word says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing His word (Romans10:17)  True faith rooted in the Messiah, Christ the cornerstone, comes through no other conduit other than the Ruach Ha'Kodesh , the Holy Spirit , our Counselor, opening spiritual eyes and ears to His word. Accepting this was the foundation upon which my faith has been built. Before 2010 I knew very little of the "meat" of the Scriptures. Since then, my faith has grown and is being expressed more and more in gifts that my childhood inclinations hinted at.

I searched for many years for the Kingdom of God. I came to that place after many u-turns, eventually finding the only route, Christ Jesus of Nazareth,  the narrow path and gate. I was found by Him, through solitude and reading and hearing God’s word. All the time my treasure that is Him, was within and I only learnt the depth of it's riches when I read the truth, God's word and accepted it all by faith as His.  This week I came across a book by Christine Westhoff called "Reframing the Prophetic: A Biblical Observation of an Ancient Gift. I was intrigued enough by my current season to order this and will do a review once read.

I know God hears my prayers and this has been a question i've had these past months. Before I stumbled upon this book I did recall Yeshua's words about why He spoke in parables, and about how King David danced (see earlier post on this) and how poetic Song of Soloman is , and the psalms. The list is endless. If we are His, then we all have His gift to us, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the Ruach Ha’Kodesh, and the manifestation of His unique parcel, as unique as our fingerprints, is rich and colourful. The ability to “see” through the lens of the Holy Spirit, might come across as "airy fairy" to some. But I hold onto this truth:

“Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not. Beloved now are we the sons of God , and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is" (1 John 3:1-2)

To paint , to write, to sing, to dance , with all my heart, is who I am,  and by His grace, is my expression of worship of Him.  The perfect law of liberty, expressed freely, without restriction.

Every one of His promises to those who believe is Yes and Amen. Like seeds , full of hidden beauty, each word of God's taken, pondered and cultivated within the heart, transforms into what He had already designed. Knowing this is His plan for my life means Shalom.

"To be spiritually minded is life and peace" (Romans 8:6)
